Volcanic Ash Fall Hazard of Mount Merapi on Yogyakarta Nuclear Area

نویسندگان

چکیده

The existence of nuclear installations in the Yogyakarta Nuclear Area is vulnerable to eruption Mount Merapi, most active volcano Indonesia. Tephra hazard has potential threaten operational activities Area; thus, it necessary analyze distribution and volcanic ash from Merapi for future eruptions. Numerical modelling used analyzing tephra using TEPHRA2 software with parameters 2010 eruption, which then visualized isomass isopach maps distribution. analysis resulted dispersion leading April, May, June, August an accumulated mass 20-50 kg/m3 a thickness 0.2-12 cm. It deal hazards such as roof strength, secondary cooling system, filtering electrical system several Area.

Scattering matrices of volcanic ash particles of Mount St. Helens, Redoubt, and Mount Spurr Volcanoes

[1] We present measurements of the whole scattering matrix as a function of the scattering angle at a wavelength of 632.8 nm in the scattering angle range 3 –174 of randomly oriented particles taken from seven samples of volcanic ashes corresponding to four different volcanic eruptions: the 18 May 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption, the 1989–1990 Redoubt eruption, and the 18 August and 17 September...

A DDDAS Framework for Volcanic Ash Propagation and Hazard Analysis

In this paper we will present early work on using a DDDAS based approach to the construction of probabilistic estimates of volcanic ash transport and dispersal. Our primary modeling tools will be a combination of a plume eruption model BENT and the ash transport model PUFF. Data from satellite imagery, observation of vent parameters and windfields will drive our simulations. We will use uncerta...

A lava flow simulation model for the development of volcanic hazard maps for Mount Etna (Italy)

Volcanic hazard assessment is of paramount importance for the safeguard of the resources exposed to volcanic hazards. In the paper we present ELFM, a lava flow simulation model for the evaluation of the lava flow hazard on Mount Etna (Sicily, Italy), the most important active volcano in Europe. The major contributions of the paper are: (a) a detailed specification of the lava flow simulation mo...

Hygroscopic Properties of Volcanic Ash

Limited observational data exists on the physical interactions between volcanic ash particles and water vapor; yet it is thought that these interactions can strongly impact the microphysical evolution of ash, with implications for its atmospheric lifetime and transport, as well as formation of water and ice clouds. In this study, we investigate for the first time, the hygroscopic properties of ...

Electromagnetic Characterization of Volcanic Ash

An open-ended coaxial probe is designed for making permittivity measurements on volcanic ash. Reference liquids such as water and methanol are used for calibrating the probe, whose input admittance is related to the complex permittivity by Marcuvitz integral. The reflection coefficient of the probe in the presence of volcanic ash samples from Etna volcano, Italy, is measured from 1 to 15 GHz an...
